DESCRIPTION

Located about 40 km from the city of Puno, Amantani covers roughly 23 km² and reaches a maximum elevation of approximately 4,130 meters above sea level. Agriculture is one of the community’s main activities, alongside textile work and traditional stone carving. Ceremonial sites on the island’s hills are associated with Andean traditions and the fertility of the earth. These sacred places continue to hold cultural and spiritual importance, and ceremonies may be led by local Andean spiritual practitioners.
